by posted 01/02/2018

Noah Welch has been named to the 2018 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team. Welch, 35 of Brighton, began playing as a child with Allston Brighton Youth Hockey. A prep standout at St. Sebastian’s in Needham, Noah went on to play at Harvard University where he was captain and a two-time All-American.

Drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2nd round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Noah went on to play 75 games in the NHL with Pittsburgh, Florida, Tampa Bay and Atlanta. Noah has spent the last 6 seasons in Swedish Hockey League, where he was named playoff MVP with the Vaxjo Lakers in 2015.

Noah has also donated his brain for concussion research at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy at the Boston University School of Medicine.

Allston Brighton Youth Hockey would like to wish Noah and all of his teammates the best of luck at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea next month.
